Thanks to the city’s thriving economy and growing population, Redding residents enjoy access to a range of popular eateries and bars, including The Park, an outdoor gathering of six food trucks serving delicious dishes including corn dogs, Mexican street food, and crepes. Located in Carnegie Park, the facility is also home to a lifesize checkers game, corn hole, and numerous fire pits to ensure the perfect fun family day out.

For a more upscale dining experience, Jack’s Bar and Grill is a high-end steakhouse serving USDA choice beef cuts alongside an extensive list of wines and beers. Alternatively, Fall River Brewing Co. is a popular local watering hole, known for its handmade beers, inventive cocktails, and craft seltzers. The brewery also serves a menu of bar-style dishes and hosts regular events including line dancing nights, live music, and summer blast-off parties.

Things to Do

Unsurprisingly, many of Redding’s most popular things to do involve the outdoors. The Turtle Bay Exploration Park represents the best of Redding’s open-air amenities. Hosting various exhibits in and around the Turtle Bay Museum featuring ancient Egyptian kings, dinosaurs, and a plethora of animals, the park is also home to the Sundial Bridge, which serves both as a pedestrian bridge and public art installation suspended over the Sacramento River.

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is another popular destination. Home to a crystal-clear lake and several waterfalls and hiking trails, the park is particularly commonly frequented by families and city residents with pets. On the other hand, for those who enjoy indoor activities, the Win-River Resort and Casino offers access to heated pools, a spa, an arcade, and a fully equipped casino. The Redding Civic Auditorium, on the other hand, hosts regular concerts and liver performances for residents to enjoy.

High school students in Redding are typically rerouted to the nearby Shasta High School, which serves grades 9 to 12.
