Although many Happy Valley residents commute to Redding for work, most property owners who choose to make the neighborhood their home enjoy their time spent outdoors, working on home improvements, gardening, or whiling the afternoon away at a local swimming hole. Despite not offering many conveniences or amenities, the small-town lifestyle of Happy Valley residents is one of the main attractions for many buyers who choose the community as their home.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Although Happy Valley is more of a rural country retreat than a hub of entertainment and fine dining experiences, the community has developed several beloved local eateries and bars that are often at the center of Happy Valley's social life. Bonney’s Burgers is a casual, fast-food-style joint serving juicy burgers, shakes, sundaes, and a variety of other comfort food dishes. A favorite from Bonney’s is undoubtedly the garlic and chili cheese fries, best washed down with a large malt milkshake.

In keeping with Happy Valley’s family-friendly, laid-back atmosphere, another popular restaurant is P.I.B.B.’s Sports and Family Gathering. With seven on-tap beers, a free arcade, and indulgent menu items like steak sandwiches and pizzas, P.I.B.B.’s is a great place to while away the evening with family, friends, or fellow sports enthusiasts. One of the community’s best-kept secrets is Ruel’s Place. Home to an eclectic interior, great beer, billiards, and hearty sandwiches, this relaxed bar and eatery is considered one of Happy Valley’s few nightlife destinations.

And, for those in search of more quiet, nature-centric places to shop and unwind, no one in Happy Valley does it better than the beautiful 29 Rows Lavender Farm.  Only visitable by appointment, the farm hosts endless fields of lavender, an onsite boutique store selling natural remedies for dogs, and unique products like lavender sugar, bath bombs, and other lavender-based products. 

Things to Do

Thanks to Happy Valley’s rural location, the community enjoys a range of outdoor activities, including extensive horseback trails and the Happy Valley Farm Trail, which leads visitors through some of the region’s most popular farms, farm stalls, and boutique homemade goods stores. The neighborhood is also home to the immensely popular Happy Valley Strawberry Festival, featuring a pancake breakfast, car show, live entertainment, and delicious strawberry and food vendors for the whole family to enjoy.

Happy Valley and surrounding communities are also home to many active military members and veterans. For those wishing to pay their respects, the nearby Northern California Veterans Cemetery is just over 10 miles away.
