Anderson

The city of Anderson offers residents a peaceful existence within an affordable, continuously developing property market.

Welcome to Anderson

Affordable homes and land in a growing, peaceful city

Located midway between Redding and Cottonwood, the city of Anderson offers residents a peaceful existence within an affordable, continuously developing property market. Home to several public parks, and with part of the city resting on the shores of the Sacramento River, natural beauty and idyllic scenery are plentiful, allowing locals to enjoy endless summer days in the sun and relatively mild winters.

Originally founded as a railroad town, Anderson was named after a local farmer, hotel owner, and postmaster. Today, the city maintains a dense suburban feel, never quite reaching the same buzz or activity level as other, larger urban centers. Thanks to the many affordable single-family homes available in the area, the local community is diverse, consisting of families, individuals, and professionals from many walks of life.

With low living costs and several empty property lots and fixer-upper homes, Anderson is a great place for investors and developers looking to profit from the gradual influx of new homeowners and further city improvements.

What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Most Anderson residents commute to Redding or other nearby cities and towns for work. However, with many public parks in the area, locals tend to socialize outside while enjoying the sunshine and typical California climate. While not as amenity-rich as other urban centers, Anderson is home to many locally-owned dining and entertainment options, where residents often gather to unwind with friends and family.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Anderson’s proximity to Redding makes commuting for dining and entertainment incredibly easy. However, Anderson itself is home to many beloved local eateries and bars, including Bartels Giant Burger, a family-owned restaurant joint that’s made Anderson its home since 1975. True to its name, this diner-style eatery serves extra-large burgers with all the toppings and sauces imaginable. Other menu items include vegan burgers, hotdogs, and freshly made desserts. Another popular local restaurant, Becca’s Cafe, serves hearty all-day breakfasts in a homely, eclectic setting. The family-owned business is a hit among Anderson locals for its large pancakes and omelets.

For those in search of a more refined experience, Woodside Grill is located on the grounds of the picturesque Gaia Hotel and Spa and serves upscale Mediterranean dishes with a distinctly American influence. Despite the small-town atmosphere, Anderson is home to one incredibly popular nightlife destination. A beloved dive bar, Firehouse serves patrons a long list of drinks accompanied by hearty pub-grub-style snacks. The venue hosts a DJ on some nights, as well as regular karaoke competitions to get the whole place up and involved.

Things to Do

Thanks to Anderson’s beautiful location, residents can enjoy a range of outdoor activities and venues. The Shasta District Fair and Event Center is home to many regular and annual gatherings, including the Shasta District Fair, which lasts four days and features live music, performances, and interactive exhibitions.

And, for those who prefer quiet days in the sun, Anderson River Park offers an array of amenities including softball and soccer fields, basketball courts, and disc golf. Located on the river, the park is also a popular destination for boating, fishing, hiking, and taking a leisurely horseback ride along the tranquil waters. The park also hosts the Mosquito Serenade, a series of free summer concerts featuring local bands and performers.
